HUNTSVILLE | For the third time in a row, The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams both picked up a pair of wins against a common opponent as the women's team knocked off Martin Methodist 9-0 while the men's team was a 6-3 winner on Thursday at UAH. The women's team improves to 8-10 with its fourth consecutive victory, and the men's team goes to 8-12 while picking up its third straight triumph.

In the women's contest, the Chargers started out with a sweep of the doubles points as
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve won 8-1 at the second position and the top pairing of
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal won 8-5. UAH also won the third point as the guests were unable to field a complete pairing at the third position.

In singles play, Remmerswaal turned in the top showing by surrendering just two games to her opponent with a 6-2, 6-0 victory from the third position, while Stearman was a strong 6-3, 6-0 winner at the fourth spot. At the Nos. 1 and 2, Gort and
Cristina Cabanas both were 6-1, 6-3 winners, and at the fifth position Esteve picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

After doubles in the men's match, UAH led by a 2-1 score as
Sebastian Rohrbach and
Elliot Hopson won 8-2 at the No. 2, while
Harrison Stone and
Timo Christen were 8-4 victors at the third position.

As play transitioned to the singles matches, UAH received a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fifth from
Guilherme Coleta, while
Brodie Holmes was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at the No. 6. The Chargers also received a 6-4, 6-0 win at the fourth from Christen, and Hopson won 7-6, 6-0 at the third.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Gulf South Conference for Mississippi College. Both contests are slated for a 1 p.m. start.
