CLEVELAND, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened up the 2017 Gulf South Conference tournament with a 9-2 loss as the eight seed against first-seeded No. 7 Delta State on Saturday night at Ferriss Field. UAH drops to 22-26, while DSU improves to 38-11.

- Delta State's Trey Hobbs hurled a 13-strikeout performance with two runs allowed over the full 9.0 innings while the Statesmen offense posted two runs or more in three different innings on the way to the 9-2 win in the GSC tournament matchup.
