CARROLLTON, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 122-118 contest in triple overtime on the road at West Georgia on Monday evening. UAH slips to 12-6 (5-5 GSC) with the setback, while UWG improves to 8-8 (3-6 GSC).

Turning Point
-The Wolves did not trail in the third overtime, and a pair of free throws by William Sides with five seconds remaining in the period iced the contest.

Inside the Box Score
-Five players scored in double figures for the Chargers led by
Chayse Elliott who scored 33 while also grabbing 11 rebounds and handing out three assists.
-
Kip Owens went 7-for-11 from the floor to score 24, while
Seth Swalve added 17 in addition to dishing out seven assists.
-Rounding out the double-figure scoring contingent were
Justin Ward with 14 and
Dalton Barkley with 12.
-Elliott's rebounding total was matched by
JJ Kaplan who also grabbed 11 while scoring seven.
-Marquill Smith led all scorers in the game as he paced West Georgia with 33 points and 14 rebounds.
-For the contest, UAH shot 49.4 percent while holding the hosts to a 38.9 percent mark, and the Chargers knocked down 15 of their 29 3-point attempts.
-Rebounding in the contest was even at 54-54.
-The significant difference in the game was UWG's advantage in second chance points as the hosts snagged 20 offensive boards to outscore UAH 29-12 in second chance opportunities.

Inside the Flow
-West Georgia opened up a five-point advantage at 10-5 at the 16:26 mark of the first half, but a 6-0 run for UAH over just 91 seconds put the Chargers ahead 11-10 with 15:05 left in the half.
-The hosts quickly answered with a 3-pointer to go back ahead, and though the Wolves would push the lead out to as many as 13 on several occasions in the period, UAH did cut the deficit to just single digits at 54-45 at the half.
-UAH would put together an impressive stretch in the middle of the second half that saw the Chargers turn a 12-point deficit into a one-point lead at 66-65 after an Owens 3-pointer at the 10:49 mark, but the Wolves would go back up 83-75 with 3:24 left in regulation.
-The guests were not deterred, however, and a 3-pointer by Elliott followed by a layup and triple from Swalve tied the game at 83-83 with 1:48 on the clock.
-Kaplan then made three free throws down the stretch before UWG tied the game on a 3-pointer with nine seconds left, and a free throw by the hosts with 0.9 seconds remaining missed to force overtime.
-In the first overtime, UWG pushed out to as much as a four-point advantage, but an Elliott layup with 26 seconds left tied it at 99-99 before the Chargers forced the hosts to turn it over to send the game to the second extra period.
-The Wolves then led through much of the second overtime and held a 109-106 advantage with 24 seconds left in the period, but a free throw from
Kerney Lane followed by a steal and score from Barkley with nine seconds remaining sent the game to the third overtime tied at 109-109.
-West Georgia then scored the first bucket in the third extra five minutes and allowed UAH to pull no closer than one in securing the victory.

-The contest is UAH's second overtime game of the year.
-Elliott records his career-best in both scoring and rebounding, and the senior logs his first-ever double-double.
-The 11 boards for Kaplan is the freshman's season-best.
-UAH has gone 54-for-98 from beyond the arc in the past three games on its way to scoring 100 in three straight games for the first time since the start of the 1979-80 season.
