Justin Ward became the program's 24th 1,000-point scorer, the team hit 22 3-pointers, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team rolled to a 109-90 victory over visiting Union on Tuesday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 11-5 overall and level their conference mark at 4-4, while UU slips to 8-7 (2-5 GSC).

Turning Point
-A stretch that saw UAH outscore the visitors 28-8 over nearly seven minutes while going an unreal 11-for-13 from the floor including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc turned a 3-point game into an 87-64 advantage for the hosts just past the midway point of the second half to effectively seal the contest.

ÂInside the Box Score
-Ward went 8-for-10 from downtown and was 11-for-16 overall including a thunderous dunk in the early moments of the game on his way to scoring 30, and he also matched a team-best mark on the boards with six rebounds.
-Freshman
Seth Swalve was equally as impressive, matching the 8-for-10 showing on 3-point tries while shooting 10-for-13 overall, and he added five assists to go alone with two rebounds.
-Giving UAH four double-figure scorers,
Chayse Elliott poured in 21 on an 8-for-12 shooting night while also dishing out six assists, picking up two rebounds, and collecting two steals, and
Kip Owens scored 17 while grabbing four boards and handing out a team-high seven assists.
-Six other Chargers recorded a bucket in the game.
-Matching Ward's rebounding total was
Tanner Finley who also grabbed six, while
Dalton Barkley registered five assists for the game.
-On the evening, UAH shot a blistering 63.5 percent including a 22-for-35 showing from downtown, while Union connected on 53.1 percent of its attempts.
-The Chargers also won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the guests by a 31-29 margin.

Inside the Flow
-UAH roared to a 12-4 lead with Ward's monster dunk capping off the opening run at the 17:38 mark of the first half, but the Bulldogs would control play through the next 14 minutes, outscoring UAH 39-23 to go up 43-35 with 3:19 left in the half.
-A sign of how the rest of the night would go, the Chargers closed the period on a 13-3 run, going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc while forcing Union to turn it over three times, and a Swalve triple just before the expiration of the clock sent UAH into the locker room up 48-46.
-The guests scored the opening bucket of the second half to briefly go back in front, but a quick five points from Ward as part of a larger 21-7 run gave UAH the lead for good as the team would enjoy a 69-56 advantage by the 15:05 mark of the stanza.
-The lead then grew to as many as 25 for the Chargers as the hosts secured the comfortable victory.

Noteworthy
-Ward now has 1,010 points for his career after matching his personal single-game high of 30 points which he has done now twice after also dropping 30 on Mississippi College on Feb. 14 of last year.
-Swalve's 28 points is by far the freshman's season-best scoring performance, surpassing the 16 he scored against Lee on Dec. 16, and his 10 field goals equal the number he had made in his previous four outings combined.
-Elliott has now scored in double figures in eight straight games, and he logs his second 20-point performance of the year to up his scoring average to 13.3 points per game.
-The 22 3-pointers is the most for a UAH team since also knocking down 22 against Shorter on Feb. 13, 2014.
