UAH Tripped Up in Saturday Matchup vs. Valdosta State

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team wrapped up the weekend's slate with a 3-1 loss (23-25, 15-25, 25-18, 22-25) to Valdosta State at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Saturday in a Gulf South Conference matchup. UAH dips to 18-6 (7-4 GSC), while VSU rises to 11-12 (7-4 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After UAH cut the VSU lead to 2-1 with a 25-18 win in the third, the Blazers were able to hold on for the four-set win with a 25-23 win in the fourth as the visitors tallied five of the final seven points of the contest.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Isabelle Barnes led the UAH attack overall with 13 kills on a .423 hitting percentage. Her .423 hitting percentage rated second amongst the Chargers.
- Abby Brooks also had a dominant attacking performance as she finished second to Barnes with 12 successful swats while leading the roster with a .462 swing rate.
- Brooks ended the contest with a double-double by also adding 10 digs on the defensive end.
- Haley Hop anchored the UAH defense with a team-high 20 digs, and she was joined in double-digit scoops by Brooks and Anna LeDuc with 10 digs each.
- Barnes and LeDuc tied for the team lead in service aces with two apiece.
- Seven Chargers had at least four digs, while five different UAH players had five kills or more.
- Sabrina Duncan tallied a team-best 35 assists.

- Brooks' double-double was her second of the season with digs and kills.
- Barnes has totaled 10 or more kills in 11 matches in 2018, totaling a .400 hitting percentage or higher in four of those contests.

- UAH steps out of GSC play for the final time this regular season next weekend for the GSC/SSC Regional Crossover in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 19-20 when the squad will play a total of four matches over the two-day span.
