PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville sixth-seeded volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 upset win (25-20, 25-22, 25-16) over third-seeded Lee on Friday night at the UWF Field House on the opening day of the 2018 Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championships. UAH improves to 23-10 on the season, while LU closes its season with an 18-14 overall record.

- The Chargers opened the first set with a 25-20 victory and would not look back as UAH turned in consecutive wins of 25-22 and 25-16 in the second and third sets, respectively, to earn the upset victory.

- After Lee slimmed the UAH lead in the first set to 16-15, the Chargers closed out the frame on a 9-5 run to own an early 1-0 match lead with the 25-20 win in the stanza.
- The second set was tightly contested throughout the majority of the frame until UAH turned in a 7-4 rally to finish out the 25-22 win in the set.
- UAH controlled the majority of the third and final frame of the night and finished off the three-set victory with a 5-0 run for the 25-16 match-sealing win.
