HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team closed out the 2018 calendar year on Monday afternoon, romping past visiting Oakland City by an 88-70 score at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers enter 2019 at 9-3 after the victory, while OCU slips to 5-5.

Turning Point
-With Oakland City leading 15-13 with just over 11 minutes left in the first half, the Chargers would rip off a 12-0 run that put the hosts up for good in the contest.

-Four different Chargers reached double figures in the game, led by
Tanner Finley who knocked down five of UAH's 18 3-pointers on his way to scoring 17.

Malik Cook-Stroupe made his first six shots to go 6-for-7 from the field en route to scoring 15, and that scoring performance was matched by
JJ Kaplan who had 15.
-The double-figure scorers were rounded out by
Dalton Barkley who had 13 to go along with a rebounding total of six which was also done by Kaplan as the pair led UAH on the glass.

Seth Swalve handed out a team-best five assists to go along with nine points on the afternoon.
-For the game, the Chargers shot 52.5 percent including going 18-for-35 from deep, while OCU connected on 48.1 percent of its attempts.
-UAH won the rebounding battle by a 34-26 margin.

-The first nine minutes of the game were back-and-forth and featured four lead changes and three ties.Â
-The 12-0 run that put the Chargers ahead for the duration was part of a larger spurt that saw the hosts outscore OCU 30-13 in the final ten minutes of the opening period to give UAH a 43-28 advantage at the break.
-The lead would grow to as many as 25 after a Swalve triple made it 59-34 with 14:26 left in the game, but a quick 9-0 spurt later in the stanza would pull Oakland City to within 12 at 66-54 with 8:48 remaining.
-That was as close as the Mighty Oaks could get, however, as the lead expanded back out to as much as 19 points in the closing minutes of the game.

-The 18 3-pointers are the most by the Chargers in a game this year, and the 51.4 percent success rate from beyond the arc is the highest by the team.
-Following up his 21-point showing against Fort Valley State with today's performance, Finley is now averaging 10.3 points per game to give the Chargers four who are scoring in double figures on the year.
-UAH has outrebounded the opposition now in seven games this season.
