No. 17 North Alabama Defeats UAH in Rivalry's Final Game

FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell on the road on Saturday, dropping the final scheduled meeting with rival No. 17 North Alabama 80-46 at Flowers Hall. The Chargers slip to 12-12 (6-11 Gulf South Conference), while UNA improves to 22-2 (15-2 GSC).
 
Game Changer
-After building up a 30-18 lead at the halftime break, the Lions matched that point total with 30 more in the third quarter to take control of the contest.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Chandler Elder logged a double-double in the contest as she led the Chargers with both 18 points and 10 rebounds, and for good measure she added three blocks and a pair of steals.
-Leading UNA was Brittany Panetti who scored 22 as one of four Lions to score in double figures.
-For the game, the Lions outshot the Chargers by a 43.1 percent to 29.7 percent clip, and UNA also won the rebounding battle by a 51-37 margin.
 
Inside the Flow
-UNA grabbed the game's first lead, but the Chargers would put forth a good push later in the first quarter and eventually would grab a 12-9 lead with just under three minutes left in the opener.
-Four straight from the Lions to end the quarter, however, put North Alabama back up front at 13-12 going into the second, and the Lions would outscore UAH 17-6 in the stanza to take a 30-18 lead into the break.
-North Alabama then put together the strong third that saw them build up a 60-28 lead going into the fourth, and the Lions would lead by as many as 38 on their way to the victory.
 
Noteworthy
-The double-double for Elder is the sixth of the season for the senior, and it is her second in the team's past four games.
-The contest marks the final scheduled one between the two programs as UNA begins its transition to Division I next season.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be back at it on Wednesday on the road at Lee. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. CST in Cleveland, Tennessee.
