HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team played in the program's first-ever conference game on Sunday, defeating Maryville 9-3 at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 4-1 (1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference), while MU slips to 2-3 (0-2 GLVC).

Turning Point
-With Maryville having scored just 19 seconds prior to make it a 2-1 game,
Luke LeVette scored the first of three goals he would tally in a 5-0 run for the Chargers that helped put the home team up 7-1 by the 6:55 mark of the second quarter.

-LeVette led the Chargers with three goals on five shots while also matching
Tiernan Hart and
Colton Nall for the team-high in groundballs with four.

Kyle Siersma mad seven saves in picking up the win in goal for UAH.

Caleb Merrow also had a multi-goal game with a pair of scores, while both
Jacob Glen and
Collin Wilcox scored and assisted on another tally.

-The Chargers outshot Maryville by a 37-16 margin including a 22-11 edge in attempts that were on goal.
-UAH picked up 39 groundballs to Maryville's 22.
-In clear attempts, UAH was 17-for-21, while the Saints were 15-for-20.

Inside the Flow
-Merrow got the Chargers on the board at the 11:46 mark of the opening quarter before Cox's goal just over five minutes into the game put the hosts up by a pair.
-The visitors cut the deficit to just one with 7:10 left in the period, but the Chargers would score the next five goals including three from LeVette that gave UAH a 7-1 lead by the 6:55 mark of the second quarter.
-Maryville then scored twice including one right at the expiration of the quarter to make it a 7-3 game at the half.
-Neither team would score in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter remained scoreless well into the period before the Saints pulled within three with a goal at the 5:18 mark to make it 7-4.
-Ruble answered less than two minutes later, and Merrow iced the contest with 1:47 remaining to create the 9-4 final.

-LeVette now has 19 goals on the year and has had a multi-goal effort in each of UAH's five contests.
-The goals for Merrow and the score for Ruble represent the first of the season for the two.
-Siersma is now 3-1 on the year with 45 saves.

-The Chargers will return to action on Friday when the team travels to Nashville for a neutral site game against Tusculum. The contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
