VALDOSTA, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to open a three-game Gulf South Conference series on Saturday at Valdosta State by scores of 8-4 and 7-4. UAH dips to 9-8 (4-4 GSC), while VSU improves to 9-12 (3-5 GSC).

Game Changer
- After UAH plated one run in the top of the sixth to bring it to a one-run game with VSU ahead 4-3, the Blazers proceeded to push their lead to 7-3 with a three-run bottom of the sixth on the way to the 8-4 win in game one.

- The UAH offense posted 12 hits in the loss in the series opener, paced by
Ben Rhodes who went 3-for-4 with one walk.

AJ Walden followed Rhodes with two base hits – one a solo home run in the ninth – while registering a team-high two runs and two RBI.

UAH took the first lead in the game in the top of the first as
Nolan Ramsey drove in McCown from third on a sac fly after McCown led off the game with a base hit.

VSU knotted the game at 1-1 with a single run in the bottom of the second, but UAH put together a two-run top of the third – highlighted by a RBI double by
Brady Bedingfield – to put UAH back ahead 3-1.

Hunter Hood retied the contest at 3-3.

Zach Duvall's lead-off triple led to a RBI single by
