UAH Wins Series Finale at Valdosta State on Sunday

VALDOSTA, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team capped off the weekend with a 7-5 victory in the finale of a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon. UAH improves to 10-8 (5-4 GSC), while VSU dips to 9-13 (3-6 GSC).
 
Game Changer
- After Valdosta State took a 5-4 lead over UAH with two runs in the fifth, the Chargers took command of the game with one run in the seventh and two runs in the ninth in addition to scoreless relief outings by Parker Henson, Dustin Sharp and Dylan Murphy which propelled UAH to a 7-5 win on Sunday.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The Chargers notched a total of 13 hits in the victory, led by AJ Walden who went 3-for-4 with one homer, two runs scored, two RBI and one walk.
- Four Chargers had multi-hit performances at VSU on Sunday, including Walden's three hits followed by Brady Bedingfield, Ben Rhodes, and Robby Seemann with two hits apiece.
- Seemann finished with a team-high three RBI while also drawing one walk.
- Riley Camp started for the Chargers on the mound, turning in 4.0 innings with four earned runs allowed, zero walks and one strikeout.
- Henson and Sharp combined for a key 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with no walks allowed and three strikeouts.
- Murphy picked up the win in relief with 1.2 innings and four strikeouts, improving to 1-1 in his freshman season.
 
Noteworthy
- Rhodes extends his hit streak to 12 games with his two base knocks today.
- With his fifth home run of the season, Walden now has 42 career round-trippers which is just one shy of second in program history and four away from tying the team's record for career homers.
