UAH Tops Tuskegee 10-5 in Wednesday Matchup in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team cruised to a 10-5 win over Tuskegee in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Paterson Field. UAH improves to 11-8, while TU dips to 4-13.
 
Game Changer
- The Chargers utilized a pair of early rallies to lift the squad to the 10-5 win, as UAH scored four times each in the second and fourth inning on the way to the nonconference victory.
 
Key Plays
- After each side scored one run in the first inning, UAH pulled back ahead 5-1 with a four-run rally in the top of the second which was highlighted by a two-RBI double by senior Tanner Burns.
- Two Tuskegee runs in the bottom half of the second to cut the UAH lead to two, but the Chargers turned around to push its lead to 9-3 with a four-run rally in the fourth that featured RBI by Brady Bedingfield, Drake Hollingsworth, Austin Zeitler and Zach Duvall.
- UAH went on to add one run in the fifth, while Tuskegee scored twice in the seventh to bring the game to its final score of 10-5.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The Chargers totaled 10 base hits in the victory, paced by Burns who went 4-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored, two RBI and a double.
- Wes Anderson and Bedingfield joined Burns with multi-hit performances as each player had two hits apiece.
- UAH drew a total of 13 walks during the game, with Zeitler notching a team-high three bases on balls.
- Both Cory Price and Hollingsworth had two walks each to follow Zeitler.
- Hollingsworth and Burns tied for the team lead in RBI with two apiece.
- Tyler Self made the start on the mound for the Chargers with 3.0 innings pitched, two earned runs allowed, zero walks and a team-high six strikeouts. Self was given a no-decision for his starting performance.
