BACK IN HSV: The UAH softball team returns to Charger Park this weekend for a Gulf South Conference series against Christian Brothers. The two teams will play a doubleheader that starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday before wrapping the weekend up with a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Chargers head into the weekend on a five-game winning streak and with an 18-6 (8-4 GSC) record.

AROUND THE GSC: North Alabama has opened an early lead on the rest of the conference, jumping out to a perfect 11-0 start to sit ahead of Montevallo and UAH who are both tied for second at 8-4. Valdosta State is in fourth at 9-5, while West Florida and its 7-4 record rounds out the top five in the league.

LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers turned in a terrific weekend in the Peach State a week ago, sweeping then-No. 18 Valdosta State by winning 11-8 and 10-0 in the doubleheader followed by an 8-4 victory in the series finale.

POWER: Ten different players for UAH have recorded a home run on the year to help the team own 25 which marks the best mark in the GSC and is 24th in all of Division II. Individually, freshman Kiara Akles leads the team and is second in the conference with the seven that she has belted for the Chargers.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP: Reagan Malone – the reigning GSC Player of the Week – is pacing the team in batting average with a .483 mark at the plate, and her on-base percentage of .597 leads the GSC and is 10th in the nation. The sophomore has reached base safely via either a hit or a walk in all but two of the 22 games in which she has appeared.

SCORING MACHINE: As a team, the Chargers rank ninth in the country and tied for first in the GSC in runs as the team has scored 200 runs or more than eight per game. The Chargers have not been shutout this season and have scored 10 or more runs in nine games on the season.

ABOUT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS: The Lady Bucs visit Huntsville at 5-19 overall, 1-11 in GSC play, and 0-4 in road games. Amber Johnson is batting .386 to lead CBU, while both Olivia Parsels and Abby Ferreira have driven in a team-high 13 runs. As a staff, CBU owns a 6.79 ERA in the circle.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 29-2 all-time against Christian Brothers and have won 20 straight dating back to 2012, and UAH is undefeated against CBU in the Rocket City. Last year in Memphis, the Chargers picked up a series sweep with wins of 15-3, 4-0, and 9-0.
