UAH Allows Fewest Goals in Program History in 14-2 Win

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team cruised to a comfortable victory on Thursday, knocking off visiting Felician by a 14-2 score. The Chargers improve to 5-2 on the season, while the Golden Eagles slip to 0-4.
 
Turning Point
-The Chargers scored the last nine goals of the game to put the contest away.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Four Chargers recorded a four-point performance in the contest with Emory Weaver scoring three times and adding an assist, while both Jacob Glen and Nicholas Ranta scored twice and assisted on another pair of scores.
-Collin Wilcox scored three times in the game for UAH, while Caleb Merrow also had a multi-goal game with a pair of scores.
-Rounding out UAH's scorers were Jack Utrevis and Colton Nall who had a goal each, and Kevin Coppinger and Adam Zois both added an assist.
-Nik Kubik paced the Chargers with seven ground balls, and he was 16-for-19 in faceoffs.
-Earning the win in goal for UAH was Kyle Siersma who stopped five shots while allowing one goal, and Ethan Randell also saw action as he posted three saves with a goal allowed.
-For the contest, UAH had a wide 50-20 advantage in shots including a 36-10 edge in attempts that were on target, and the Chargers also built up a 33-19 edge in ground balls.
 
Inside the Flow
-The Chargers took a 2-0 lead into the second quarter after being provided goals by Glen and Wilcox in the opening frame, and after a score for the visitors to start the second, Merrow would tally before Weaver struck for his first two of the afternoon to give the hosts a 5-1 lead at the half.
-The Golden Eagles made it a 5-2 game just under three minutes into the third period, but UAH would score four times in the third and five more times in the fourth to create the 14-2 final.
 
Noteworthy
-The two goals allowed represents a program record for fewest goals by an opponent.
-Weaver is now the third Charger to reach double figures on the year in goals as he moves his season total to 10.
-The four-point days for Ranta and Glen give the pair 15 and 14 points, respectively, on the season which are the third and fourth best marks on the team.
-Siersma is now 4-2 on the year in goal.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers return to action at Charger Park on Saturday when Notre Dame de Namur visits for a 2 p.m. contest.
