Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

LeVette, Coppinger Lead UAH to First-Ever Road Conference Win

MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team picked up its first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference road win on Saturday night, knocking off host Montevallo 13-6. The Chargers improve to 7-5 (2-1 GLVC), while the Falcons slip to 6-6 (0-3 GLVC).

Game Changer
-After the Falcons pulled to within one at 5-4 with 2:54 left in the second quarter, the Chargers scored eight of the final 10 goals in the game to secure the victory.

Inside the Box Score
-Luke LeVette turned in a stellar offensive performance, scoring five times while also adding three assists for an eight-point night, and for good measure, he picked up a team-best six ground balls for the Chargers.
-Also having a big game was Kevin Coppinger who became UAH's first-ever player to reach 100 career points as he scored four times and also added an assist for five points in the game.
-Jack Utrevis scored a pair, and Colton Nall picked up two assists to round out UAH's multi-point performers.
-UAH's other two goals came from Nik Kubik and Nicholas Ranta, while Emory Weaver and James Cox both had an assist.
-Kyle Siersma registered nine saves in picking up the victory in goal.
-For the game, UAH enjoyed a wide 46-21 advantage in shots including a 28-15 edge in shots on goal, and the Chargers were 13-for-14 in clears compared to a 13-for-18 performance by Montevallo.
-Both teams won 11 face offs with Kubik logging each for UAH.

Inside the Flow
-LeVette, Ranta, and Utrevis scored the first three goals of the game to give UAH a 3-0 lead by the 4:23 mark of the first quarter, and though UM would counter with a pair of goals to end the first and start the second quarter, LeVette and Utrevis would give UAH its three-goal lead again with 8:42 remaining until the half.
-The Falcons would score two to make it a 5-4 game, but Coppinger and Kubik scored six seconds apart to lift the Chargers to a 7-4 advantage at the break.
-The teams traded goals to start the third quarter, but after Montevallo scored with 5:08 left in the period to make it 8-5, LeVette scored his fourth and fifth goals before Coppinger scored three straight to give UAH its 13 goals before a last-minute goal from the hosts created the 13-6 final.

Noteworthy
-Coppinger now has 35 points on the year, giving him exactly 100 for his career.
-The eight points for LeVette is a season-high for the sophomore, and it matches the program record for points in a game that he set three times a year ago.
-LeVette – who missed three games due to injury – pads his team-lead in goals as he now owns 29 on the season.
-Siersma moves to 5-3 on the season in goal for the Chargers, and he has stopped 70 shots in eight games.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will continue GLVC play on the road next weekend in the penultimate game of the regular season, traveling to Shorter on Friday for a 6 p.m. CDT contest.
