Chargers Split Opening Day of 2018 Season at UAH Classic

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team opened its 2018 campaign at home with the UAH Classic at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Friday with the squad notching a 3-0 win over Auburn Montgomery before dropping the day's finale 3-1 to West Georgia in non-league matchups.

- The Chargers will continue play in the UAH Classic on Saturday with matches at 9 a.m. against LeMoyne-Owen and 3 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist.

Turning Point
- UAH turned in a pair of dominant wins in the first and second sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-14, respectively, to take an early lead before securing the 3-0 victory on a 25-17 win in the third.

- The Chargers offense was in a groove overall in the contest, totaling a .316 hitting percentage as a squad with six different players registering swing rates above .333.
- Isabelle Barnes led the UAH attack with 10 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, followed by Abby Brooks with eight kills and a team-best .667 swing rate.

- Brooks finished second to Barnes with nine kills, followed by senior Lorah Yonce with seven successful swats.
