HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team won for the fourth time in its past five games, cruising to an 81-63 victory over visiting Shorter on Thursday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 11-4 (4-3 Gulf South Conference) with the victory, while SU slips to 2-12 (0-6 GSC).

-A total of 14 Chargers contributed offensively in the game, led by
Malik Cook-Stroupe who went 7-for-9 from the floor including a 4-for-6 showing from long-range on his way to scoring 18 points, and for good measure he grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

JJ Kaplan logged a double-double after registering nine rebounds in the first half on his way to finishing with 12 to go along with 10 points, and the Huntsville native also handed out a team-high six assists.
-For the contest, the Chargers shot 52.7 percent overall and went 14-for-29 to shoot 48.3 percent from beyond the arc, and UAH's defensive effort held Shorter to a 38.6 percent mark from the floor.
-UAH outrebounded the Hawks by a 36-34 clip as seven other players joined Kaplan and Cook-Stroupe with multiple boards.
-The Chargers finished the night with 23 assists on their 29 made buckets.

-After a pair of ties in the opening two minutes, a
Seth Swalve bucket at the 18:02 mark of the game would put UAH up for good in the contest, and the lead would grow as large as 17 in the opening half after
David Anderson's 3-pointer with 7:18 on the clock made it 32-15 in favor of UAH.
-The Hawks would narrow the gap all the way down to just four with 2:24 left in the half, but a nice push by the Chargers sent UAH into the locker room at the break up 40-31.
-Shorter could pull no closer than six in the second half before the Chargers pushed their lead out to the widest of the game thanks to a stretch that featured four straight 3s, leading to UAH going in front 68-40 with 7:58 on the clock.
-The guests made it a 16-point game late before the Chargers wrapped up the scoring to produce the 81-63 final.

-Thursday night marked the fourth time this season that UAH was able to play all of its dressed players in a contest.
-UAH is averaging 14 made 3-pointers per game over the team's last five games, and the Chargers improve to 10-0 on the year when recorded 10 or more triples.
-The double-double is the third of the year for Kaplan, and his six assists mark a career-best for the redshirt sophomore.
-Since scoring 15 against Valdosta State, Cook-Stroupe has averaged 13.0 points per contest over a six-game stretch for UAH.
