UAH Outlasts Mississippi College in Five-Set Win Friday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team returned to Gulf South Conference play with a 3-2 win (24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 15-8) over Mississippi College on Friday evening at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH improves to 16-7 (7-1 GSC), while MC dips to 7-17 (2-6 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- With Mississippi College leading 6-3 in the fifth set, UAH turned in an 8-0 run on the way to the match-clinching 15-8 win in the fifth for the five-set victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Kendall Scharbert paced the Chargers offense with 14 kills on a .281 hitting percentage to go along with two total blocks and two digs.
- Isabelle Barnes rated second on the squad with 10 kills, while leading the squad with six total blocks.
- Shayla Libby anchored the defense with 27 digs in the contest in addition to registering a team-high five service aces.
- Sabrina Duncan notched a double-double with a team-high 50 assists to go along with 19 digs. Her 19 digs rated second on the squad.
- Both Abby Brooks and Jordan Grammer registered nine kills in the win.
- Brooks also ranked third on the team with 18 digs.
- Both Kennedy Sellers (14 digs) and Molly Presnell (11 digs) posted double-digit scoops, as a total of five Chargers eclipsed 10 digs.
- UAH swung .161 as a team for the match, while holding MC to a .154 hitting percentage.
