Hasani Scores in 109th to Give UAH 1-0 Win in 2OT

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team persevered through adverse weather conditions, and Laura Hasani scored in the game's 109th minute to push the Chargers to a 1-0 win over visiting Union in constant rainfall at the Merrimack Soccer Complex. UAH improves to 5-8-1 (3-6-0 Gulf South Conference), while the Bulldogs fall to 2-9-0 (1-7-0 GSC).
 
Turing Point
-After the two teams had played more than 108 minutes without a score, the Chargers made all that time spent in the rain well worth it when Laura Hasani pushed it past the Union keeper in the 109th minute to spark a wild celebration as UAH won it 1-0.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UAH outshot the visitors by a 17-8 margin, but shots on goal were even in the game at 5-5.
-The Chargers dominated the overtime periods, registering five attempts while holding Union to just one in the two extra periods.
-Union held a slim 3-2 advantage in corners.
-Hasani was joined by both Brynn Colvin and Peggy Mathis in leading the team with three shots, and Hasani had a team-best two that were on frame.
-Adriana Wright made five saves in the contest while posting the clean sheet and earning the win in goal for UAH.
-There were a total of 23 fouls whistled in the game, and the official issued one caution.
 
Noteworthy
-Hasani's game-winner represents her first collegiate goal, and she now has three points after registering an assist last weekend against Spring Hill.
-This is the first shutout of Wright's collegiate career, and she now owns three victories on the year in goal.
-This is UAH's first overtime win since defeating Valdosta State 1-0 on Sept. 16, 2016.
-The Chargers are now 8-2 against Union since the Bulldogs joined the GSC in 2012.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be back in action on Sunday when Christian Brothers visits to close out the four-game homestand. That contest is currently slated for a 3:30 p.m. start at Charger Park.
