UAH Earns Fourth Straight Win with 3-2 Victory at Shorter

ROME, Ga. | Extending its winning streak to four games and earning its most conference wins in 18 years, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team picked up a road win at Shorter on Friday evening, defeating the hosts 3-2. The Chargers improve to 7-8-1 (5-6-0 Gulf South Conference), while the Hawks fall to 2-12-1 (2-7-1 GSC).
 
Turning Points
-The hosts opened the scoring, tallying in the 35th minute when Bianca Martins da Silva scored, but the Chargers would answer just over five minutes later in the 41st when Annie Burd played a ball to Laura Hasani who scored to level the contest at 1-1.
-UAH then took the lead quickly into the second half as Gabby Westenberger assisted on Brynn Colvin's game-tying marker in the 49th before Colvin and Melanie Brannon set up Hasani who headed it in for her second of the night to put the Chargers up 3-1.
-Shorter would get a second goal in the 62nd when Kelly Vernon scored, but the Hawks could get no closer as UAH secured the 3-2 win.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UAH outshot the hosts by a 13-8 margin, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, and the Chargers earned six corners while conceding none to Shorter.
-Colvin and Hasani both led the Chargers with five shots in the contest, with Hasani pacing the squad with four that were on target.
-Adriana Wright made four stops in goal while picking up the victory for UAH.
-There were 17 fouls whistled in the game, and the referee issued one caution.
 
Noteworthy
-UAH last earned five conference wins in the 2001 season.
-Hasani doubles her goal scoring output for the season as she now has four, and each of the four goals have come in the team's past three games as the freshman is on a three-game goal-scoring streak.
-Colvin now has 14 goals and seven assists on the season to give her 35 points.
-The 14 goals for Colvin rank in a tie for third all-time in program history, while the 35 points are tied for second most in a season by a Charger.
