MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Completing a perfect weekend, the No. 16 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team defeated Tampa by a 75-68 score in a neutral site game hosted by Montevallo. The Chargers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 0-2.

-After a 10-point lead for the Chargers had been cut to just two with just under two minutes remaining in the game,
Max Shulman hit a big-time 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, and UAH would limit Tampa to just two more points the rest of the way in sealing the victory.

JJ Kaplan turned in another strong day for the Chargers, recording a double-double with a team-best 16 points and 14 rebounds.
-Coming off the bench to score in double figures again was
Triston Chambers who knocked down three treys on his way to scoring 15, while
Malik Cook-Stroupe was a perfect 8-for-8 at the charity stripe while scoring 12.
-For the game, UAH shot 46.8 percent after connecting on 55.0 percent of its attempts in the second half, while the Spartans registered a 46.2 percent mark from the floor.

-UAH again started the contest slowly offensively, falling behind 8-2 in the first five minutes of the game, but a Kaplan layup at the 10:43 mark would pull the Chargers into an 11-11 tie.

Dalton Barkley triple with 5:41 remaining in the period would put UAH ahead for the first time at 20-19, and the Blue and White would remain in front through the rest of the half, going into the locker room with a 29-24 lead.
-The Chargers would maintain a similar cushion through the second half, with five straight points from Chambers on back-to-back possessions lifting UAH ahead by its biggest margin of the afternoon at 64-54.
-A 10-2 run for the Spartans cut the deficit to just two before the 3-pointer from Shulman and four points from a layup and two free throws from Kaplan created the final 75-68 margin.

-This is the first time in Kaplan's career that he has recorded back-to-back double-doubles, and the 28 rebounds in consecutive games match the 28 the redshirt junior had against West Georgia in the regular season finale and GSC tournament opener last year.
-Chambers is averaging 17.0 points in 21.0 minutes after the season's first weekend.
-The Chargers are 35-for-39 from the free throw line on the year.
