PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville second-seeded volleyball team fell to third-seeded West Georgia 3-1 (22-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon at the UWF Fieldhouse in the Gulf South Conference tournament semifinals. UAH dips to 24-9, while UWG improves to 21-11.

The Chargers will now await their fate in the South Region, as the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships regional selection show is on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT. UAH was ranked No. 7 in the region earlier this week.

The UAH offense was paced by
Abby Brooks with a team-high 14 kills, as she also collected a double-double by ranking second on the team with 17 digs.

Defensively,
Shayla Libby anchored the Blue & White with 25 digs, while
Jordan Grammer posted a team-high three total blocks.

Isabelle Barnes had an efficient attacking night with 10 kills on a roster-best .346 hitting percentage in addition to notching seven digs.

West Georgia edged out the Chargers in the first set 25-22 before taking the second 25-18. The Wolves were buoyed by hitting percentages of .300 and above in the opening frames.

UAH cut the match deficit to 2-1 in the third set, with the Chargers taking the frame 25-18. Three Chargers had multiple kills during the set win. UWG went on to take the match in four sets with a 25-20 win in the fourth.

The Chargers have reached the GSC tournament semifinals in back-to-back years for the first time since 2011-12, as the team has notched a berth to the tournament in three straight seasons under head coach
