No. 12 Chargers Stumble at West Florida on Tuesday

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The No. 12 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team was tripped up at West Florida on Tuesday night, falling 65-60. The Chargers drop to 8-2 (2-2 Gulf South Conference), while UWF improves to 4-6 (2-2 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-A 13-2 run in the middle of the second half turned a 10-point deficit into a one-point advantage for the hosts at the 8:32 mark of the second half, setting the stage for a back-and-forth affair in the final minutes in which West Florida would ultimately prevail. 
 
Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers were led in scoring in the game by Malik Cook-Stroupe who tallied 15 as one of four players to finish in double figures.
-Sam Orf added 14, while both Seth Swalve and Max Shulman chipped in with 10.
-Kerney Lane paced the Chargers on the glass with seven rebounds while also handing out a team-high five assists.
-UAH shot 36.4 percent for the evening while holding the Argos to a 37.9 percent shooting mark, and UWF held a 41-35 advantage in rebounding.
 
Inside the Flow
-After the Argos scored the game's opening basket, the Chargers would score the next eight points, and UAH's lead would balloon to 10 at 21-11 after a MAX SHULMAN layup fell at the 8:48 mark.
-West Florida closed the gap to six with a minute left in the period, but UAH tallied five points in the waning moments to take a 36-25 lead into the locker room at the half. 
-The lead grew 15 at 40-25 with just over 18 minutes left in the game, but UWF scored six straight to pull back within single digits just a minute later.
-West Florida's momentum continued through the middle part of the stanza, and the hosts went in front for the first time since the opening moments of the game when a 3-pointer fell to make it 51-50 with 8:32 remaining.
-The lead then exchanged hands four times with the Argos going up for good with just under two minutes remaining.
 
Noteworthy
-Cook-Stroupe sets his season high with the 15 points, reaching double figures for the third time this season.
-Lane matches his career high with the five assists, and his team-best total is now 32 to go along with just three turnovers.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers will now return to the Tennessee Valley where the squad will square off against Union on Friday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
