UAH Drops Series Finale at Anderson Sunday

ANDERSON, S.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team dropped the nonconference series finale at Anderson by a score of 10-9 in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. UAH dips to 2-4, while AU rises to 5-3.
 
Game-Changer
- With UAH ahead 8-0 entering the bottom of the eighth, Anderson rallied for a total of seven runs to cut the Chargers lead to one run as the Trojans went on to tie the game the following inning to force extras until two runs in the bottom of the 11th gave the hosts a 10-9 win on Sunday.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- The Chargers started out the game with a three-run rally in the top of the first, which featured an RBI double by Nolan Ramsey, an RBI single by Drake Hollingsworth and a sacrifice fly by Jack Stamper.
- UAH added three more runs in the fifth inning - highlighted by an RBI double by Malave Bettinger - to put the squad ahead 6-0, before an RBI triple from Hollingsworth and a sac fly by Zach Duvall in the sixth made it an 8-0 lead for the Chargers.
- Anderson put together a seven-run rally in the eighth inning to cut the Chargers lead to 8-7, prior to the Trojans evening the game at 8-8 with a single run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
- The Chargers pulled ahead in the top half of the 11th with an RBI single by Will Stump, but the Trojans responded with two runs in the bottom half for the 10-9 win.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Hollingsworth led the Chargers at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a team-high two RBI and two runs scored.
- Both Bettinger and Ramsey ranked tied for second on the roster with two base hits apiece in the loss, as Bettinger also tied for the team lead with Palmer Ford and Hollingsworth with two runs scored each.
- The Chargers recorded a total of 15 base hits as a team against the Trojans, with 10 different players recording at least one hit.
- Seven Chargers drew at least one walk.
- UAH amassed six extra-base hits, doubles by Ramsey, Ford, Bettinger (twice), and Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth additionally posted one triple.

- Davis has not allowed a run in 9.0 innings to start the season.
- The Chargers 15 hits on Sunday are the most by the team so far in 2019.
- Hollingsworth now has three triples in his career.
