HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened the 2019 home slate at Charger Park with a doubleheader sweep of McKendree on Saturday afternoon by scores of 12-4 and 3-2 to begin a three-game nonconference series. UAH improves to 4-4, while MU dips to 0-2.

Malave Bettinger and
Nolan Ramsey each collected three RBI in the win to open the home slate, as UAH powered its way to a 12-4 victory over McKendree to open the series.

Scoring Breakdown
- McKendree took the first lead of the game with one run in the top of the first, but UAH turned the tables in the bottom half on an RBI double down the right field line by Ramsey who later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1 Chargers.
- UAH put together a four-run rally in the second to make it 6-1 Chargers, highlighted by RBI base hits by
Ko Powell and Ramsey.
- The Chargers added three more runs in the fourth for a 9-1 lead, thanks to an RBI triple by Ramsey followed by RBI singles from Bettinger and
Drake Hollingsworth.
- McKendree added one run apiece in the fifth and seventh to slim the UAH lead to 9-3, but the Chargers added three home runs in the bottom of the eighth – headlined by a two-run homer for Bettinger – to extend the hosts lead to 12-3.
- One run by the Bearcats in the bottom of the ninth brought the game to its 12-4 final.

- With the game tied at 2-2 with one out in the top of the fifth and McKendree threating with runners on second and third,
Brooks Brophy came on in relief and allowed a walk followed by back-to-back flyouts to halt the Bearcats offense as UAH went ahead in the bottom half of the inning on the way to the 3-2 win.

- The Bearcats took the early lead in game two on Saturday with a two-run homer to right-center in the top of the first off the bat of Andrew Aydt.
