Federovitch, Pachinger and Gerber Sweep GSC Weekly Honors

2/12/2019 3:19:00 PM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly women's lacrosse award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team swept all three honors as the squad was represented by Nicole Federovitch as GSC Offensive Player of the Week, Natalie Pachinger as GSC Defensive Player of the Week and Katie Gerber as GSC Freshman of the Week.

Federovitch garners her fifth career GSC Offensive Player of the Week honor and Pachinger registers her seventh career weekly GSC award, while Gerber collects her first GSC Freshman of the Week distinction.

A two-time GSC Player of the Year honoree, Federovitch opened the 2019 campaign with a career-best performance in the 25-11 win at Birmingham-Southern on Saturday, as the senior posted single game program records for points (14) and goals (4) in the nonconference meeting.

Pachinger tied for the team lead with three caused turnovers and 11 ground balls at Birmingham-Southern, while also adding one goal and rating second on the roster with six draw controls. Pachinger's 11 ground balls are a single-game program record, as she also helped UAH limit BSC to just 16 shots on goal in the contest.

Gerber opened her collegiate career this past Saturday with a dominant overall performance, as she boasted a team-high seven draw controls and 11 ground balls while rating second on the roster with five goals. Her five points on five goals are the most points by a UAH freshman in a season-opener since Federovitch had eight points (7g-1a) to start the 2016 campaign, and her 11 ground balls are now tied with Pachinger for a single-game program record.

UAH looks ahead to the start of Gulf South Conference play on Wednesday at Shorter at 5 p.m. CT.
