HUNTSVILLE | The first regular season edition of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 was announced on Wednesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville checked in at No. 20.
 
The Chargers – who are off to a 10-5 start – are one of three Gulf South Conference schools featured in the poll.
 
Valdosta State is No. 7 and West Florida is No. 10.
 
The only other NCAA South Region school in the rankings is No. 14 Florida Tech.
 
West Florida and FIT are new to the poll, while Saint Leo and Palm Beach Atlantic – also South Region institutions – fell out of the list.
 
UAH will be back in action on Sunday when the team opens up GSC play with a visit from Shorter. The single game is slated for a 4 p.m. start, and the two teams will play a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Monday.
