LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped an overtime heartbreaker on Thursday night, falling 80-76 at host West Alabama. The Chargers fall to 16-6 (9-5 Gulf South Conference), while UWA improves to 17-5 (12-3 GSC).

-UWA scored the final four points of regulation to force overtime and then scored the first six points of overtime to take a firm grip of the extra period on its way to the win.

Seth Swalve led a group of four Chargers who scored in double figures as he knocked down seven shots and went 6-for-6 at the foul line to score 21, and the redshirt sophomore added three assists and three rebounds.

JJ Kaplan added 11 with Finley grabbing eight boards and Kaplan leading the team on the glass with nine rebounds.
-For the contest, UAH shot 45.8 percent from the floor while UWA connected on 49.2 percent of its attempts, and the Tigers outrebounded UAH by a 40-29 margin.

Inside the Flow
-UAH took control of the contest early, and the Chargers led by as many as eight points in the opening half, going in front 17-9 with 12:50 left in the period, and the lead grew to its largest of the night for UAH when the team went ahead 26-17 at the 8:42 mark.
-West Alabama would proceed to close the half on a hot stretch, however, and it was the Tigers who led 35-30 at the break.
-The lead grew to as large as 11 for UWA at 43-32 with 16:01 remaining in regulation, but the Chargers went on a 16-5 run to tie the contest back up at 48-48 with 11:39 on the clock.
-UAH would surge back in front, going up by as many as five with 2:29 left in the game, and the Chargers were up by four with 40 seconds left before the Tigers were able to force overtime with the final two buckets to send it to overtime tied at 68-68.
- UWA then scored the first six points of overtime to take a lead that UAH would not be able to overcome in the extra period.

-Kaplan has nine rebounds in consecutive games, and he is grabbing 7.6 boards per game.
