BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference unveiled its weekly women's track & field honorees, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Erin Jewell as GSC Field Athlete of the Week.
 
This is the second time Jewell has been named GSC Field Athlete of the Week in the 2019 campaign.
 
A Florence, Alabama, native, Jewell reset the program record in the discus throw for the second time in the outdoor campaign at the Florida Relays over the weekend with a toss of 45.96 meters.
 
Her mark of 45.96 meters tops her previous record of 45.60 meters and the NCAA provisional standard of 45.11 meters, as she ranks 25th nationally in the discus entering the week.
 
UAH looks ahead to the GSC-PBC Challenge at Madison Academy in Madison, Alabama, this Saturday.
