Chargers Drop Narrow 2-1 Decision at Division I Member Alabama A&M

NORMAL, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team traveled across town to Division I member Alabama A&M, dropping a narrow 2-1 decision on Friday evening. UAH slips to 0-2-1 with the setback, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-3-0.

Turning Points
-The hosts got on the board early as D'Essence Burnett scored in the sixth minute of the game, but 20 minutes later the Chargers would level the contest as Brynn Colvin assisted on a 26th-minute score by Rachel Collins to tie the game at 1-1.
-The score remained even until the 76th minute when Ayanna Gooden's unassisted tally lifted A&M to the eventual 2-1 final.

Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers outshot AAMU by a 12-11 margin, including a 7-6 advantage in attempts that were on target.
-UAH had five different players that registered a team-high pair of shots in Peggy Mathis, Devyn Thompson, Laura Hasani, Colvin, and Collins, and it was Thompson who led the Chargers with a pair on goal.
-Adriana Wright made four saves in taking the loss in goal for the Chargers.
-UAH earned six corners compared to just one for the Bulldogs.

Noteworthy
-The goal for Collins is the third of her career, first of this season, and first since scoring against Union on Sept. 25 of last year.

-The start in goal for Wright represents her first career collegiate appearance.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will return to action on Sunday when the squad opens up its home portion of the 2019 season with another crosstown foe as Oakwood visits. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at Charger Park on the UAH campus.
