Anderson, Day and Stewart Garner GSC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference unveiled its weekly men's and women's cross country award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Jay Day as GSC Men's Runner of the Week, Kaylee Stewart as GSC Women's Runner of the Week and Allan Anderson as GSC Men's Freshman of the Week.
 
This is Day's third GSC Runner of the Week award in his career, while both Stewart and Anderson collect their first respective league honors.
 
Day led the Chargers men's team to third place at the Missouri Southern Stampede this past Saturday with a time of 25:05.18 for ninth place overall. His time on Saturday ranks ninth amongst the program's all-time fastest times for an 8k race.
 
Stewart guided the UAH women at the Missouri Southern Stampede with a 15th-place standing with a time of 18:01.29, which was a personal best for the sophomore and moves her up to sixth on the program's all-time fastest performers list.
 
Anderson – a Huntsville native – was also a key performer that led to UAH's third-place team standing by finishing 15th with a time of 25:26.56. He was the highest-finishing freshman in the race, which featured a field of 286 runners.
 
The UAH men and women look ahead to the lone home meet of the season with the UAH Chargers Open at the former Huntsville Municipal Golf Course this Saturday. The men's race is scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by the women's competition at 9:45 a.m.
