LAKELAND, Fla. | The UAH men's and women's cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships on Saturday at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida, with the men finishing fourth and the women fifth overall.
The UAH men, ranked No. 25 nationally, placed just one spot outside the automatic qualifying positions for the NCAA Championship. Dakota Frank led the Chargers with a 20th-place finish in a time of 32:40.40. Nate Pohlsander followed closely behind in 21st at 32:41.17, while Ahmed Ibrahim finished 27th in 32:54.39 to round out the top three for UAH.
On the women's side, Catherine Truemper led the way with a 16th-place finish in 22:12.00. Tamsyn Gibbs finished right behind in 17th with a time of 22:12.57, and Lexi Hinote crossed 27th at 22:38.90 to help the Chargers secure a top-five team finish.
The top three teams in each region automatically advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships. With both UAH squads finishing just outside that range, the Chargers will now await the announcement of at-large selections to determine if they will compete on the national stage.
