LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team dropped a road contest on Thursday, falling 68-55 to host West Alabama. The Chargers slip to 7-8 (4-5 Gulf South Conference), while UWA improves to 8-6 (3-5 GSC).

Turning Point
-West Alabama scored 10 of the game's 11 points in a 6:30 stretch to open the fourth quarter, turning a two-point lead into an 11-point margin that would prove to be too much for UAH to overcome.

Aryn Sanders ended the game as the lone Charger in double figures as she scored 20 to go along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Alexis Woods turned in another strong shooting performance, going 4-for-5 from the floor to score eight.
-The Chargers were led on the glass by
Katie Speegle who had eight boards to go with two assists.
-For the contest, the Tigers outshot UAH by a 43.3 percent to 31.7 percent clip.
-UWA also won the rebounding battle by a 47-37 margin, and with 15 boards on the offensive end, the Tigers built up a key 16-4 margin in second chance points.

-West Alabama grabbed an early 10-4 lead at the 7:32 mark of the opening quarter, but a 9-2 push for the Chargers capped off by a
Sloan Mann 3-pointer gave UAH its first lead of the night at 13-12 with 4:28 remaining in the period.
-The lead then exchanged hands five times the rest of the quarter with UWA taking a 20-19 margin into the second.
-The first four minutes of the second saw UAH go on an 11-3 run with a Sander trey making it a 30-23 cushion for the Chargers, and after outscoring UWA 17-10 in the period, the guests took a 36-30 lead into the break at the half.
-UAH's advantage would once again reach seven two minutes into the third after a pair of Speegle free throws made it 40-33, but the Tigers then closed the period on a 15-6 run to go up 48-46 heading into the final frame.
-The hosts then scored 20 in the fourth while holding UAH to just nine to secure the victory.

Noteworthy
-This is the fourth time this season that Sanders has scored at least 20 points, and it marks the 10th time that UAH's leading scorer has reached double figures.
-This is the eighth time this year that Sanders – who leads the GSC in steals per game – has recorded at least three steals in a contest.
-Woods is now shooting 52.0 percent on the season.
