HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team will play a role in the United States Olympic Softball Team's preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Games this spring as the squad will play an exhibition against the national team on Sunday, April 5, as part of Team USA's Stand Beside Her Tour.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex at JJ Biello Park in Woodstock, Georgia.
 
"We are honored to be a part of the Stand Beside Her Tour," said UAH head softball coach Les Stuedeman. "The inclusion of softball in the Olympics again is a dream come true for everyone involved in our sport. Team USA is using this tour to prepare for the summer games, and we are thrilled to be able to stand beside them on their journey to Olympic Gold."
 
Tickets are now on sale at CRPA.net. Advanced tickets start at $15 for youth and senior citizens while adults are $20 and children 5-and-under are free. Groups with 10 or more youth can purchase discounted tickets for $10 per person. Tickets will also be on sale on site the day of the tour stop and will be $20 for youth and senior citizens and $25 for adults.
 
With the return of softball to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games program, the Stand Beside Her tour provides much-needed training and competition for the 2020 Women's National Team in their preparation for the Olympic Games while also giving fans a chance to watch the Red, White and Blue in person. 
 
Olympic competition will start July 22, 2020 with the Gold Medal Game being played on July 28.
