UAH Ranked Second in First National Coaches Poll of 2020

10/8/2020 2:11:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's cross country team enters this weekend's competition ranked No. 2 in the nation in this season's first Top 15 Division II Men's Cross Country National Coaches Poll.

Western Colorado is currently first overall in the vote with six first-place tallies, followed by UAH in second, Augusta in third, fellow conference-member Lee in fourth and Illinois Springfield in fifth to round out the top five.

The Chargers are one of three Gulf South Conference teams amongst the top 15 teams in the nation that have currently competed.

UAH has competed twice so far in the 2020 season with first-place team finishes in both instances at the UAH Chargers Invitational on Sept. 19 and, most recently, at the Troy Invitational on Sept. 26.

The Chargers completed an incredible feat at the Troy Invitational, as the squad recorded the first five finishers and ended with a total of 11 runners in the top 25. Senior Jay Day has paced UAH in both races, including an individual championship at the Troy Invitational.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday in Carrollton, Georgia, at the West Georgia Invitational.
