Orf's Career-High 28 Points Helps UAH to Victory at Union Friday

JACKSON, Tenn. | The No. 16 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team opened up the 2020-21 Gulf South Conference campaign with a 67-63 victory over Union on the road on Friday evening. UAH improves to 1-1, while UU slides to 2-1.
 
Turning Point
-After a Max Shulman three-pointer knotted the game at 61-61 with 3:21 remaining, UAH outscored Union 6-2 over the final three minutes on the way to the 67-63 win on Friday.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Sam Orf had a stellar day overall on Friday with a team-high 28 points on 12-of-20 shooting, while also tying for the team lead with seven rebounds.
-Seth Swalve additionally eclipsed 20 points for the Chargers with a 21-point performance in a team-high 35 minutes on the floor, as he also pacedthe roster with three assists and three steals.
-Kerney Lane and Max Shulman each had seven rebounds in the contest to tie with Orf for the team lead.
-Shulman rated third on the roster with nine points, going 6-for-7 on free throws.
-UAH shot 42.3 percent (22-52) from the field and 27.6 percent (8-29) on three-pointers.
-The Chargers limited the Bulldogs to 40.0 percent (24-60) on field goals.

-Union led the game for the majority of the first half, despite never accruing a lead higher than five points in the initial frame.
-UAH cut Union's lead to one point at 33-32 with 3:14 remaining in the half, but a Bulldog basket with 1:07 left would give the hosts a 40-36 lead at the break.
-Orf scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half to guide the Chargers second-half comeback, including a go-ahead jumper in the paint with 45 seconds remaining to put UAH up 63-61.
-UAH outpaced Union 4-2 over the final 45 seconds to hang on for the 67-63 victory.
 
Noteworthy
-Orf's 28 points were a career-high for the senior.
-UAH has won seven of the past eight meetings against Union.
