Royer Collects 300th Career Win in Doubleheader Split at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball head coach Hunter Royer captured his 300th career victory on Saturday afternoon as the Chargers split a doubleheader at Union with an 8-3 loss followed by a 10-5 win to take the Gulf South Conference series. UAH moves to 7-5 (4-2 GSC), while UU sits at 4-7 (1-2 GSC).
 
Royer Noteworthy
- Since taking over the reins of the UAH baseball program in 2010, Royer has amassed a career record of 300-193-2.
- He is one of 13 GSC baseball coaches to accumulate 300 career wins, and is one of four currently coaching in the league.
 
Next Time Out
- UAH heads to Mobile, Alabama, for a doubleheader on Wednesday against Spring Hill. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.

Game-Changer
- The Bulldogs turned in a five-run rally in the bottom of the third to take a 6-0 lead in game one on Saturday, as Union did not give up the lead on the way to the 8-3 win.

- Colin Brewer and Landon Ezzell both went 2-for-4 with one run scored to lead the Chargers at the plate.
- Ezzell added one RBI, while Brewer notched the lone extra-base hit by the Chargers with a double in the fourth.
- Palmer Ford, Drake Hollingsworth and Will Acuff each had one walk in the matchup.
- Both John Trousdale and Malave Bettinger posted one base hit.
- Acuff stole the Chargers lone base of the afternoon.

Game-Changer
- UAH came from behind to take the GSC series in the nightcap on Saturday evening, as the Chargers amassed six runs in the top of the seventh – highlighted by a three-run home run by Zach Duvall – to overtake the Bulldogs lead on the way to the 10-5 victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Duvall showed off some power twice in the 10-5 win as he went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. The senior registered round-trippers in both the top of the fourth and seventh innings.
- Tyler McCown had a team-high three hits in four trips to the plate with one RBI.
- John Trousdale went 1-for-4 out of the lead-off spot with a triple, one RBI and one walk.
- Dorien Jenkins drew a team-high three walks in addition to one run scored in the game.
- Trousdale, Wes Anderson and Duvall tied for the team lead in runs scored with two each.
- Harper Case started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 4.0 innings with three runs allowed and two strikeouts for a no-decision.
- Parker Henson earned the win in relief with 1.2 innings and two strikeouts. Henson improved to 3-0 with the win.
 
Noteworthy
- After not hitting a home run in his first three seasons, Duvall has three homers in his last four games.
- Duvall's multi-homer game was the first by a Charger since AJ Walden had two home runs at Union on April 21, 2018.
