MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Winners of five straight and nine of its last 11, the No. 20 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team traveled to rival Montevallo on Thursday night and left town with a 79-68 victory. The Chargers improve to 22-5 (14-5 Gulf South Conference), while the Falcons slip to 12-15 (7-10 GSC).

-With a 13-point lead cut all the way down to two with 5:17 remaining in the contest, the Chargers would hold Montevallo to just one more field goal the rest of the way on their way to earning the win.

Inside the Box Score

Seth Swalve had a fantastic night for the Chargers, going 5-of-6 from 3-point range and 7-of-9 overall on his way to scoring a team-best 21 points while also collecting a team-high three steals.
-Four other Chargers scored in double figures with
Max Shulman connecting on four 3-point tries to score 14, while
Sam Orf scored 13 to go along with four boards and three assists.

Kerney Lane filled the stat sheet and went 4-for-5 for 10 points while also pacing the team with seven rebounds and seven assists, and
JJ Kaplan matched Lane with the 10 points and seven boards.
-For the contest, UAH shot 51.9 percent and made 13 3-pointers, while Montevallo cooled off late and shot 47.1 percent.
-The Falcons won the rebounding battle by a 30-24 clip.
-UAH enjoyed a key 19-2 difference in bench production, and the Chargers forced Montevallo into 17 turnovers to hold a 23-16 edge in points off giveaways.

Inside the Flow
-The lead exchanged hands five times in the opening minutes of the game with the Falcons opening a 14-9 advantage by the first media timeout at the 15:48 mark, but the Chargers would pull back in front with a Kaplan 3-pointer just over two minutes later making it 21-19.
-The game remained close through the remainder of the period, but an 8-0 run to close the half sent UAH into the locker room with a 41-36 lead at the break.
-A bucket from Kaplan and a triple from Swalve quickly gave the Chargers a 10-point margin early in the second half, and the lead would grow to as many as 11 before a Falcon spurt pulled the hosts back within five at 50-45 with 15:42 remaining in the game.
-The Chargers would respond and go up by 13 at 59-46 with 11:45 to go, but the Falcons would answer right back, going on a big run to pull within two at 64-62 with 7:30 on the clock.
-The guests were able to cut the margin back down to that two-point difference once more with 5:17 left in the game, but the Chargers would hold Montevallo to just one more bucket and none in the final 2:43 of the contest as they secured the win.

Noteworthy
-UAH is now 5-1 against Montevallo since the Falcons rejoined the GSC, and the Chargers have won five straight in the all-time series.
-The 21-point showing for Swalve is his top performance of the season and his best since scoring 26 against Christian Brothers at home on Feb. 23 of last year.
-Shulman has made four 3-pointers in four of his last five games.
-This marks Lane's fourth time in double figures on the season, and he matches his career best with the seven assists, giving him 82 for the season compared to just 22 turnovers.
