UAH Sweeps Doubleheader against CBU as Win Streak Climbs to Eight

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened up a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park against Christian Brothers with a doubleheader sweep by scores of 16-0 and 16-1 on Saturday afternoon. UAH improves to 14-5 (9-2 GSC), while CBU dips to 4-16 (1-9 GSC).

Game-Changer
- The Chargers offense started off the doubleheader with a 10-run bottom of the first, which – along with a dominant pitching performance by Tyler Self – helped UAH to the 16-0 victory in seven innings on Saturday.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Self started on the mound for the Chargers and improved to 4-1 on the year, after tossing 6.0 shutout innings with one hit allowed and eight strikeouts.
- A trio of Chargers went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one in the contest to lead the offense, including Garrett Bodine, Malave Bettinger and John Trousdale.
- Bodine additionally had a team-high three runs scored, followed by Trousdale, Bettinger, Drake Hollingsworth and Will Acuff with two runs each.
- Both of Bettingers base hits were doubles, while Trousdale and Hollingsworth had one two-bagger each.
- Acuff drew a team-high seven walks in the win, as five other Chargers had one base on balls apiece.
- Landon Ezzell rated second on the roster with two RBI in a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.

- A similar script played out in game two of the doubleheader as UAH erupted for an eight-run second inning while being buoyed by Dylan Murphy's 5.0 shutout innings on the mound on the way to the 16-1 victory.

- Wes Anderson led the Chargers at the plate in game two going 2-for-5 with a team-high three runs, three RBI and two doubles.
- Three more Chargers chipped in two base hits apiece in the contest, including Malave Bettinger, Zach Duvall and Will Acuff.
- Bodine rated tied for first on the squad with three RBI in a 1-for-3 performance with one run and one walk.
- Palmer Ford, Connor Daniel, Hunter Nabors and Acuff each drove in two runs.
