BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 24th annual GSC "Top Ten" Award winners on Thursday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by
Jay Day as an honoree for the 2019-20 academic year.

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Day led the Chargers nationally-ranked men's cross country team in the 2019 season as the GSC Individual Champion with a time of 24:57.04, as he helped the squad to a GSC Championship as well as an NCAA South Region Championship.

Day – also a member of the UAH track & field squad – was an indoor all-region performer in the 3000 meter, mile and distance medley relay in the 2020 season.

The male GSC Top Ten winners additionally included Brandon Anderson (West Alabama, Football), Clay Guillozet (Valdosta State, Basketball), Tate Lehtio (West Florida, Football), and Zach Zediker (Delta State, Golf). The five honorees are composed of four seniors (Anderson, Guillozet, Lehtio, Zediker) and one junior (Day).
