HUNTSVILLE | Alaina Taylor has been selected as the Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
 
Taylor marks UAH's second consecutive Freshman of the Week honoree overall and second overall this season as she joins Oliva Smith who earned the recognition on Dec. 22.
 
Taylor is averaging 28.5 minutes per contest and has started three games during her debut season including both at West Alabama this past weekend.
 
In UAH's 62-58 win on Friday, Taylor scored five to go along with six rebounds, five steals, and a pair of assists, and she added six more points and three steals in the Saturday setback.
 
The five steals in the first game of the series match a single-game high by a Charger this season.
 
On the year, Taylor ranks second on UAH with 15 steals.
 
The Chargers will be back in action this Friday when Delta State visits Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
