The Chargers enter the semifinal matchup with a 32-5 record and riding a four-game winning streak, highlighted by a 61-53 comeback victory over Cal Poly Pomona in Tuesday's Elite Eight contest.
UAH rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit in that game, holding the Broncos to just six points in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Lili Wilken, Ivey Maddox, Chloe Siegel, Bella White, and Millie Brown all played key roles in the comeback, helping guide the Chargers through their first Elite Eight appearance and into the program's first Final Four.
Earlier Thursday, Wilken added to her historic season by being named to the 2026 WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' All-American Team.
Thursday's matchup marks another milestone for UAH Athletics, as the Chargers become the first UAH program to reach the national semifinals since softball in 2011, when the Chargers advanced to the national championship game.
The contest will also be the first-ever meeting between UAH and Grand Valley State. The Lakers, located in Allendale, Michigan, are the defending national champions and are seeking a return trip to the title game.
UAH has faced just one team from the state of Michigan in program history, falling to Wayne State 83-76 earlier this season at the Division II CCA Tip-Off Classic.
Grand Valley State enters the semifinal with a strong resume and national recognition. Head coach Mike Williams was named the 2026 WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' Coach of the Year, while standout guard Paige Van Stee earned WBCA All-American honors and leads the team with 15.0 points per game.
The winner of Thursday's semifinal will advance to the national championship game on Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. CT, facing the winner of the matchup between No. 2 seed Indiana (Pa.) and No. 3 seed Colorado Mesa.
