CLEVELAND, Miss. | The 18th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team traveled to Delta State on Friday and opened the weekend series with a 61-53 win to remain perfect in conference play. The Chargers improve to 5-1 (5-0 Gulf South Conference), while Delta State falls to 0-3 (0-3 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-With the Chargers holding a slim 52-51 lead with 3:38 left in the game, UAH would hold the hosts to just one more bucket the rest of the way to score nine of the game's last 11 points to seal the win.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Contributions came up and down the Charger lineup as nine players scored for UAH, led by Max Shulman and Nathan Moore who both had 11.
-Right behind that pair were Sam Orf and Riley Webster as those two scored nine each in the contest.
-Shulman recorded nine rebounds to lead the Chargers on the glass, helping the visitors win the rebounding battle by a 39-31 margin.
-For the contest, the Chargers shot 38.9 percent from the floor while holding Delta State to a 37.0 percent shooting mark.
-UAH enjoyed a 26-16 advantage in points in the paint, and the Blue and White's bench outscored that of the hosts by a wide 24-3 margin.

-Delta State led for the entirety of the first half, including holding a 28-20 advantage with 4:40 left until the half, but a 12-6 push from the Chargers gave UAH just a 34-32 deficit at the break.
-The hosts got the first bucket of the second half, but a 9-0 run that included five points from freshman Luke Burnett gave UAH its first lead of the contest at 41-36 at the 15:13 mark of the period.
-A response from the Statesmen put the hosts back in front at 49-45 just past the midway point of the half, but seven straight including a go-ahead triple from Webster would give the Chargers a 52-49 lead with 4:27 remaining.
-The lead would remain with UAH the rest of the way as Delta State would pull within one at 52-51 two possessions later before being held to just the one basket the remainder of the contest.

-Shulman has reached double figures in four straight games, while Moore has his third game reaching double digits.
-The nine points and 31 minutes mark season highs for Webster.
-The Chargers have now won three straight in Cleveland which is tied for the best winning streak on the road against Delta State in the all-time series.
