HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team started its weekend series with a win on Friday night, defeating visiting Delta State by a 63-53 score. The Chargers improve to 4-3 (4-3 Gulf South Conference), while DSU falls to 1-6 (1-6 GSC).

Turning Point
- After the Lady Statesmen pulled to within four with just 3:46 left in the game,
Selena Pruitt hit a key 3-pointer on the next possession and after a stop on the other end,
Alexis Woods made a layup fall to give the Chargers a comfortable 61-52 advantage with just over two minutes left in the contest.

Alexis Woods led a trio of Chargers who finished in double figures as she went 6-for-10 from the floor on her way to scoring 18 while also grabbing 13 rebounds to record a double-double.

-The first quarter was a tight affair with neither team being able to get ahead by more than four points in the period, and it was Delta State who would lead 18-15 heading into the second.
-With the game tied at 22-22 three minutes into the second quarter, UAH would rip off a 13-2 run to surge in front by a 35-24 score, and the hosts would enjoy that same 11-point margin at 38-27 going into the locker room at the halftime break.
-The margin ballooned all the way out to 18 at 48-30 at the 6:16 mark of the third, but the Lady Statesmen finished the quarter on a 15-2 run to make it a 50-45 UAH lead heading into the final stanza.
-The run for the guests would continue into the fourth as they narrowed the gap to just three less than two minutes into the quarter, but UAH would hold Delta State off the scoreboard for nearly four minutes while going back up by seven at 54-47 with just over six minutes left in the contest.
-The Lady Statesmen pulled back within four at 56-52, but the Chargers scored seven of the game's final eight points to seal the contest.

-Woods now has five double-doubles on the season which is tied for second in all of Division II.
-The 17 points for Mann mark a career-best for the junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
-After not recording consecutive wins in their previous 27 meetings with Delta State, the Chargers have now won three straight in the series with the Lady Statesmen.
