BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly women's track & field award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Zakiria Holifield as GSC Freshman of the Week.
 
This is Holifield's second GSC Freshman of the Week honor this season.
 
A native of Alabaster, Alabama, Holifield recorded the fastest 200-meter time of the season by a GSC runner with a time of 25.10 for second place on Sunday at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham.
 
She additionally was a member of UAH's second-place 400 meter relay squad which finished second with a GSC-leading time of 3:54.54.
 
Holifield's time of 25.10 in the 200 meter currently ranks ninth nationally, while the Chargers 400 meter relay team's time of 3:54.54 is fourth in the nation entering the week.
 
UAH looks ahead to the KMS Open this Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama.
