Chargers Earn 62-58 Road Win at West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. | Returning to regular season action for the first time since before Christmas, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team started a two-game road series at West Alabama with a 62-58 victory. The Chargers improve to 3-2 (3-2 Gulf South Conference), while the Tigers drop to 2-1 (2-1 GSC).

Turning Point
-With UAH's lead trimmed from 10 to just one with 2:35 remaining, the Chargers would score seven of the game's last 11 points including going 5-for-6 at the charity stripe to seal the contest.

Inside the Box Score
-Selena Pruitt paced UAH offensively as she scored 15 thanks in part to a pair of 3-pointers, and she added three rebounds and a steal.
-Also making a pair of 3-pointers on her way to scoring 14 was Holly Harris who led the Chargers on the glass as she grabbed seven rebounds.
-UAH's double-figure scorers were rounded out by Alexis Woods who scored 11 in just 16 minutes after getting into foul trouble.
-Sloan Mann had a team-high three assists for the Chargers, while Alaina Taylor led UAH with five steals.
-For the contest, the Chargers shot 38.5 percent, while the Tigers connected on 39.2 percent of their attempts.
-West Alabama won the rebounding battle by a 37-33 margin, but the Chargers outscored UWA by a 15-6 clip in second-chance points.
-The guests also enjoyed a 21-14 advantage in points off turnovers.

Inside the Flow
-After West Alabama claimed an early 4-2 lead in the first, the Chargers would lead by as many as 13 thanks to a 10-0 run through the latter stages of the quarter, and UAH would go into the second holding a 22-11 advantage.
-The Tigers would narrow UAH's lead to 25-19 with 4:11 left in the second quarter, but an 8-3 push to close the stanza for the Chargers gave the guests a 33-22 cushion going into the halftime break.
-The third quarter was one of ebb and flow as UWA pulled within six at 38-32 at the 5:19 clock before UAH surged back in front by a 44-32 margin just three minutes later, and the game would go into the fourth with the UAH lead at 44-39.
-An Adrian Grant layup at the 5:35 mark of the fourth provided the Chargers with a 50-40 advantage, but just three minutes after a 14-5 push from the Tigers, UAH's lead was just 55-54 before Woods scored four of UAH's final seven points to help the Chargers get the win.

Noteworthy
-The 15-point showing from Pruitt marks a season-best for the junior.
-The five steals from Taylor tie the single-game high by a Charger this season, matching Holly Harris who had five in back-to-back nights in the season-opening weekend at Mississippi College.
-UAH has now won four of the last six against UWA, and this was UAH's first win in Livingston since the 2016-17 season.

Next Time Out
-The two teams will wrap up the weekend on Saturday with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
