FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville cross country teams competed in large, talented fields on Friday night at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
 
On the men's side, the No. 8 Chargers finished fifth overall and fourth among Division II schools with No. 1 Colorado School of Mines finishing first, No. 4 Augustana in second, and No. 18 Western Colorado in third. The Chargers finished level on points with Division I member Arkansas who is ranked No. 18.
 
In the women's race, UAH placed 25th overall with three nationally-ranked Division II teams placing ahead of the Chargers.
 
Jay Day crossed the line 23rd with a 24:35.3 time, while Allan Anderson finished 39th by clocking in at 24:57.3. In 44th was Harold Lacroix who completed the race in 25:07.6, and UAH's scorers were rounded out by Jacob Bishop at 63rd with 25:21.9 time and Will Thompson who finished in 25:22.2 to place 65th.
 
Also completing the course on the evening for the Chargers were Alex Herbst (78th/25:30.4), Jack Elliott (111th/25:57.0), Caleb Boys (117th/25:59.6), Sam Wilhelm (120th/26:02.2), Gabe Henneberger (151st/26:22.6), Nathan Knox (192nd/26:50.4), Taylor Nails (226th/27:17.0), Alex Ponce (252nd/27:46.9), Peyton Bailey )259th/27:57.0), Corey Adamsky (269th/28:07.6), Jacob Kachadorian (279th/28:19.5), and Zach Howard (296th/29:00.0). 
 
Kaylee Stewart led the way for the Chargers on the women's side as she turned in an 18:04.9 showing to place 63rd, while Emily McMurry was next to cross the line for UAH in 151st with a 18:59.2 time. Taylor Engram finished 177th after completing the course in 19:13.3, while Tatiana Padgett who placed 187th with a 19:19.3 time and 201st-place finisher Caroline Ursprung finished in 19:28.5 to round out UAH's scorers.
 
Claudia Dassow (217th/19:41.4), Amelia Brady (219th/19:42.5), Abby Weist (238th/19:54.2), Paige Wohlgemuth (302nd/21:43.8), and Taylor Simmons (315th/23:31.0) all also competed for the Chargers on the night.
 
Both teams will now return home for the 2021 UAH Invitational, hosting one of the strongest fields in recent years at its home meet to be held at John Hunt Park next Saturday.
