Colvin Lifts UAH to 2-1 OT Win at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. | Brynn Colvin tallied her second score of the night in the 96th minute, lifting The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team to a 2-1 overtime victory on the road at Union on Friday night. The Chargers improve to 4-3-1 (2-2-0 Gulf South Conference) with the win, while Union falls to 2-5-0 GSC).

After Hailey Hicks recorded a save in the 92nd minute, Colvin would score just four seconds into the 96th minute to end the game.

The thrilling conclusion came after UAH dominated the second 45 minutes of regulation, outshooting the hosts by a 16-4 margin in the second half including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal in the period, and that pressure resulted in the Chargers being awarded a penalty – the team's first of the year – in the 58th which Colvin converted to tie the game at 1-1 after Union had grabbed the lead in the 17th minute.

Colvin now leads the team with four goals, and the game-winner is her team-best second of the season.

The wide differential in shots in the second half gave the visiting side an impressive 23-12 margin in shot attempts and a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Hicks finished the night with four saves in picking up the win in goal for the Blue and White, moving her to 2-0-0 on the season.

The victory is UAH's fourth straight all-time against Union, and it also marks the third consecutive win in overtime as the previous two meetings required a second period of extra time before resulting in Charger victories.

UAH will look to continue its strong road play – the Chargers are now 3-1-0 on the road this season – on Sunday when the team travels to Christian Brothers to wrap up the road trip. Kick-off in Memphis is slated for 1 p.m.
