ST. LEO, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's cross country team achieved the program's highest-ever team finish at the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country National Championships with a 12th place standing on Saturday morning at the Abbey Course.

UAH tops its previous highest team placing of 19th at the 2019 NCAA National Championships.

Jay Day led the way for the Chargers at Nationals with a 49th-place time of 31:43.8, which now ranks fifth in program history for a 10-kilometer race.

Day was joined in the top 80 of the field by
Allan Anderson in 71st at 32:06.9 and
Jacob Bishop in 80th with a time of 32:15.2. Anderson's time now ranks ninth in program history for 10 kilometers, while Bishop now ranks 10th amongst the program's fastest 10-kilometer performers with his time Saturday.

Also competing for the Chargers on Saturday included
Harold Lacroix (103rd/32:37.1),
Sam Wilhelm (108th/32:38.8) and
Will Thompson (158th/33:18.0).

This was the UAH men's cross country program's seventh all-time appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
