Chargers Tripped Up by Mississippi College on Saturday Afternoon

CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell on the road on Saturday afternoon at Mississippi College 83-44, in the second outing of a two-game weekend road trip through the Magnolia State. The Chargers drop to 1-6 while MC improves to 5-3.

Miajah Bullock put up a team-high 10 points capitalizing on her trips to the free-throw line going a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Sloan Mann led the Chargers on the glass, grabbing six rebounds in the contest and she also dished out four assists for good measure.

UAH jumped out to a 6-point lead in the games early minutes but after action at both ends of the court, the Choctaws held a 15-11 advantage at the close of the game's opening quarter. Then, a 20-2 run by the hosts in the middle of the second frame saw the halftime score read 40-19.

The Blue & White would go 83.3 percent from the free-throw line in the third quarter in a push to cut into the Mississippi College advantage and the Chargers would go on to hold the Choctaws to a 37.5 percent shooting performance in the fourth stanza, their lowest of the day. However, MC would ultimately close out the contest to claim a 83-44 victory in Clinton. 

For the game, UAH hit 31.8 percent of its attempts from the floor while the Choctaws turned in a 45.9 percent shooting performance. Mississippi College won the rebounding battle by a 38-25 margin and capitalized on second chance points winning that category 23-8.

Taylor Ben put up 17 points for the Choctaws while Ally Alford, Kyiah Julian,and Amelia Bell were also in double figures. Bell led the way for MC with nine rebounds.

UAH will look to turn the page returning to Huntsville Monday night, Dec. 13th, as they host West Georgia to continue GSC play.

Tip-off at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall is set for 5:30 p.m.
